Project Summary
RIHC was awarded a design-build contract to complete phase two of a three phase, $125 million expansion project for SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau, MO. The expansion project is the largest in the history of SoutheastHEALTH.
Due to increasing volume in Orthopedics and Women’s Health services, SoutheastHEALTH realized a need for expanded facilities – an easily accessible, world class facility that will meet the ongoing needs of the community for many years to come.
Construction of phase two will include a 70,000 square foot Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center and Women’s Integrated Health Services at Southeast’s west campus. The project will get underway in July 2021 with a projected completion date of early 2023. This phase will also include renovations at the main hospital campus on Lacey street.
The two new centers meet patients’ specific needs in innovative ways. The women’s center will house Obstetrics and Gynecology services, will provide flex suites for physicians with subspecialties including Cardiac, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology, and as new services are needed, this space will accommodate specialty service expansion. The facility will also be the new home for extensive breast health services including mammography, advanced diagnostics and some surgical procedures, an education center and medical spa services.
Southeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine opened in 2019 and its growth has been exponential. The current five Orthopedic surgeons/physicians will soon be joined by two additional specialty surgeons. A new bone health clinic is being developed and the clinic is now offering same day appointments for established patients. With this new center and team of providers, SoutheastHEALTH will bring Orthopedic care to a new level.
